Fit-Wit/Active Gym

This gym in F-6, Islamabad is a prime example of functional spaces while also being mindful of the unique typology of a gym and its affiliating spaces p>

For this gym, we inherited an industrial look with the use of bold colors such as black, yellow and red and exposed ceilings to further accentuate this. These colors along with the use of specific textures such as corrugated sheets on the walls and terrazzo on the floors helps divide the spaces in accordance with their intended use such as strength training and free weight area. Hints of wood and brick are used throughout the design to help earth the otherwise maximalist space and bring a sense of warmth to the space. The use of geometric black screens brings a sense of visual permeability to the gym and breaks away from the solidness of the otherwise dark and bold walls. The use of yellow navigation lines, both continuous and broken, allow users to route themselves throughout the stretch of the space while also bringing about connectivity amongst all the different spaces.

The swimming pool and deck area serve as a different space altogether and the space is separated by different treatment of material such as the incorporation of brick and also the wooden deck which can also serve as an area to practice yoga.
