Central Library of IST

This state-of-the-art library is located in IST Islamabad and serves as a peaceful space for studying and relaxing in between classes.

The circulation of the space is defined by a mix of materials in the flooring where tiles are used to define the main artery while the reading and studying spaces are carpeted. The furniture and lighting incorporate circular elements which creates connectivity between the spaces while also creating a break between the axes of the shelving and seating. The small niches sandwiched perfectly in between bookshelves serve as cozy nooks for solo study sessions as they are cleverly placed away from the main activity areas of the library.

With it’s varying yet complimentary colors and materials, this library acts as a welcoming space for students and faculty members.
