25-A, Villa Cuboid
L ocated in Park Enclave, this 8500 square feet residence is a beaming example of ultra-modern design. The client was particular about maintaining the privacy of the family from the surrounding environment and hence, this became the dictating factor of design
Conceptually speaking, the pattern of pixels was put to use when designing the geometric metallic screens that rest on the outer boundary of the house; in areas that required more privacy such as the BBQ area at the rooftop or windows relating to certain bedrooms, a dense opaque screen was put to use and in places that required semi privacy, the pattern of the screen dissipates and makes use of wooden squares alongside the original metal. This pattern is carried out throughout the elevation; in the gate, the fence and also the side elevation which creates a certain connectivity between all the spaces. The use of muted stone tiles and fair faced concrete allows the screens to be the star of the show while also exaggerating the modern feel the design wanted to incorporate. This house includes dense foliage and green spaces mainly in the double heighted patio and area adjacent to the staircase which makes it very energy efficient and breezy.
This residence is a unique example of contemporary design in local context, making use of shapes and methodologies that people usually stray away from.
